My interview with Jason for this article was sched- uled for a Saturday morning in Hollywood and was to also include Nathan Butson and Jay West. West is Mewes' closest advisor for Mewes Juice and is an expert vaper in his own right. He is also sharp as a tack and a wiz at social media. Nathan Butson is my 22-year old son, who I have nick- named "The Voice of The Vaping Generation" due to his intuitive understanding of vaping and e-Liquids and also because it annoys him. I missed my flight on Friday night, which annoyed Nathan even more. Until he realized that this turn of events meant that he now was going to spend the night by himself. In Hollywood. With exactly zero dads and with exactly one Vapor Digest credit card. Missing that flight ended up being very expensive. I did manage to get an early flight out to Los Angeles, but had to keep on standby for an exact time to meet with Mewes and West, due to the fact that Mewes was joining his wife Jordan at an obstetrician appointment that day. They are expecting a baby girl soon and they plan to name her Logan Lee. 00 A couple of years ago, during one of my many mania-induced all-night vape web-surf-a-thons, I stumbled upon a "Jay & Silent Bob Get Old" podcast. I usually don't have the patience to listen to podcasts, especially ones lasting over an hour, but I was fascinated by this one. It's funny, it's honest, and it's unpredictable. iTunes named it one of the best podcasts of 2010. The icing on the cake is that in many ways, "Jay & Silent Bob Get Old" is a podcast about the benefits of vaping. The podcast is not overtly about vaping, but vaping definitely plays an important role in every episode. The podcasts were created by filmmaker Kevin Smith as a "weekly intervention" to help keep actor Jason Mewes sober from substance abuse. The style is conversational, unscripted and featured in most podcasts is how long Mewes has been sober. PTV What do you remember about your initial impression of an electronic cigarette the frst time you witnessed it? JAY I thought it was a pretty interesting concept, and it seemed like it could be another tool people could use to help them quit smok- ing cigarettes – another option to the patch or nicotine gum. PTV How have your beliefs about electronic cigarettes evolved since that time? JAY I still see electronic cigarettes as a great tool to help smoker quit, but now after vaping for several years, I realize that vaping can also be a tool to socialize, a tool to vaporize, and a tool to favorize. It's a very adaptable tool and can be used in many diferent ways. PTV About how long ago did you frst try vaping for yourself? And what did you remem- ber thinking about that experience? JAY I frst tried an eGo vape pen about 4 years ago. I remember being fascinated by the invention itself and thinking "How did some genius dude invent and build a device like this. Something that creates vapor and not smoke?" That guy had to have a pretty big brain. 23
