00 We had a unique opportunity thanks to SEVIA (http://sevia.org) to speak at an industry conference during our trip to China. Over 70 manufacturers of ecigs and eliquid were present. Phil Busardo discussed the vaping journey and how innovation and technology has progressed over the past few years creating affordability and variety of options for smokers and vapers alike. My presentation was focused on what vapers today are using and why advanced generation devices and open vapor products are important. Ultimately my goal was to motivate the manufacturers to sup- port scientific studies and advocacy efforts in the EU and US. In summary my presentation began by pointing out the 4 key current accusations that are being used commonly by regulators and public health officials and the reasoning behind them. I also added current studies on what is commonly used in the market today (vs cigalikes that most studies have used) and how important flavors are for those that make the full time switch to vapor products. Alot of the presentation was focused on studies that could be done in the next year to sup- port the open vapor market such as nicotine efficiency delivery, flavors and the use of the vape shop as a catalyst in helping people transition from combustible tobacco. One of the points I really wanted to stress is how media and regulators view the products coming out of China and how the industry has failed to provide studies and data on their products! by Dimitris Agrafiotis Phil Busardo and Dimitris Agrofotis at Innokin Phil Busardo and Dimitris Agrofotis at the SEVIA (Shenzhen Electronic Vaporizer Industry Association) Conference, China, January 2015 45
